Ascent Trip Report

I started this hike at 4pm and the temperature was just under 90F. I had my Chacos on and didn't intend to push it as I was on this little trip to set PRs on San Gorgonio tomorrow. If you like stone steps, this is your trail. There were many on the way up and they were well built, only a couple required a high step. The views were decent as you round the corner of a very steep slope, but once I turned around past the lower north summit, I was really impressed with the view of the Wonderland of Rocks. I can see now why this place is so special for rock climbers. As for me, I made it to the oversized cairn on top and took a few pictures. I could see Quail across the desolate valley, which I hope to hike someday. To the west there was a very faint presence of the two giants, Jacinto and Gorgonio, which were shrouded in haze. On the way down there were five people coming up. It sure wasn't a crowded trail.
