Ascent Trip Report

High clearance needed for SE trailhead. A fairly short day, some loose rock but by BC standards quite mellow. Straightforward using Mclellans GPS track.

From SE, parked 400m before trailhead as next loose rocky section needed 4wd. Greg's Subaru AWD struggled to get this far. From here a signed shortcut trail leads L, regaining road before trailhead. From end of road, trail leads around, across bridge then up then L following a rope (for waymarking) then cutting L across slope to gain a grassy gully (water source) leading up to glacial bowl with small snow patch. Chris Hood catches us here and we climb on together. We skirt L of bowl then climb gully, a little loose, we stay close together to minimise rockfall. At top we reach easy ridge; turning L we're soon at NW summit. HP is either Trig plaque or outcrop a few m to W (hand level couldn't separate them), also two trig reference markers. SE summit at least 5m lower by hand level, suggesting NW summit approx 1670m. About 5hr round trip.

The first peak of our BC trip. Then via Campbell River to Golden Hinde Westmin trailhead
