Ascent Trip ReportHeaded up the Desolation Trail to Carrigain's summit, found it in the clouds. As they passed and revealed different parts of the Whites, I got a patchwork of the entire view. No one else up there that early, probably because Sawyer River Road's still closed. I ran into swarms of people on Signal Ridge on the way down. Then, headed through Carrigain Notch (hitting Vose Spur of course - wonderfully steep and one of my new favorites) and then up the Nancy Pond Trail to Norcross Pond and the herd path to Nancy. Ran into an quietly irate grouse at the summit with a view of the Presis in the clouds. Then descended and made dinner and camp alongside Nancy Pond. Then I got bored, and at 8PM I decided to just get back to the Sawyer River Trailhead, so I packed up and left. 30 mile day with 8500' of elevation, not bad for a day with one 4K peak.
