Ascent Trip Report

I attempted this peak last year, from the East, up North Pine Canyon / Forest Road 601. I found this side of the mountain to be fairly dense with trees and brush, and ended up turning around due to lack of time.

So, I decided to try from the West this time, using forest road 592, in my truck. Turned right, heading directly toward the peak to the West, on an unmarked road here: 39.983365, -112.572149. This road became a little tight through the trees, and wasn't great for my Ram 1500, so I started walking at 39.982228, -112.566555. This would be easily passable with any slightly smaller 4WD vehicles. The road heads straight up the hill, and is slightly steep, so you would need an ATV / motorcycle in order to drive any further. You could drive an ATV to about here: 39.984555, -112.553358. I did not see any "no trespassing" signs, and no gates.

The hike is steep, but overall easy with occasional brush up to the knees. Overall the West side was much better, with no trees or other significant brush to fight. I wished I had worn pants in a few spots. The way up is straight, and route-finding was easy. Occasional talus. Round trip was 3.25 miles, and took me about 2.5 hours including breaks.
