Ascent Trip Report

Standard W ridge approach, reached summit 1 hour after leaving the upper lake. N ridge on map is actually a broad face / shallow gully crisscrossed by human sized rock ledges. It didn't look too bad. Downclimbed carefully, one or two short traverses with good holds. One or two thought provoking down-steps on loose stuff. About 1 hour from summit to saddle. Crossed the east basin to gain a forest ledge at 6000' at dark. Followed the ridge through steep forest until around 4800' and then made slow descending traverse to Granite Creek in mostly open forest. Brush encountered was mostly blueberries and fir saplings with a couple of ~50 yard stretches of easy slide alder. Forded Granite Creek and arrived at road ~6 hours after leaving lake. Maybe similar time and distance as Easy Pass return, but avoids the 1400' climb from Fisher Creek.
