Ascent Trip Report

There is only one trip report, by Austin Smith, previously posted for this "summit", and it incorrectly states that there is a maintained trail to it. This more comprehensive report corrects that misinformation.

From Exit 293 on I-17, take Beaver Creek Road about 4 miles to the entrance to the Montezuma Well portion of the Montezuma Castle National Monument, following the brown NM signs. Drive to the end of the road in the NM and park.

There are two small 3,680-foot contours that are candidates for the high point of this NM. We bushwhacked almost due north to the obvious high ground of the western area, where we found a small solar-powered weather station. From this area the eastern area is almost due east. There is a screen of bushes near the eastern area that prevents sighting from one area to the other, so we were unable to determine which was the higher. But it is an easy matter to visit both areas; the bushwhacking through open country is not difficult. From the second area we descended to the paved path around the Well.
