Ascent Trip Report

Climbed this wooded peak as the first part of a loop trail in the Wilson Creek area of Pisgah National Forest. The trailhead (Timber Ridge Trail #262) can be accessed from the north off the BRP onto Roseborough Road. Likewise, from the south take the same road north from the village of Mortimer. There is a small parking lot near the trailhead. Take care to find the correct path, as many side trails converge here. I had to back track .5 miles after heading in the wrong direction.

The trail initially ascends steadily next to a creek bed, but then turns straight up the ridge and climbs steeply. The topo map is a bit deceiving here. The trail just misses the summit, which can be accessed on deer path to the north. No BM found.

This is a great hike to take in conjunction with Hunt Fish Falls and Gragg Prong Falls, both of which lie in the valleys to the west and east of the HP.
