Ascent Trip Report

Arrived in Conway yesterday to 100-degree temperatures, so not surprisingly, it was a hot and humid hike up the Crawford Path this morning. Great views on the Presidential Range today, but none to either side due to thick haze. We knocked off Pierce, Eisenhower and Monroe in relatively short order and made it to Lakes of the Clouds Hut around 1:30 pm. After napping for an hour or so, we took off for Mt. Washington and hung out on the summit for awhile. We then descended back down to the Hut and took a refreshing swim in the lower lake. We were then treated to a damn fine dinner and entertainment by the hut crew, topped off by a nature hike around the lakes, led by one of the hut guys. This was my first overnight in one of the AMC huts and it won't be my last. It was a lot of fun.
