Ascent Trip Report

Was driving upstate and decided to stop off halfway for a quick hike. I didn't realize that it would be as quick as it was.

Got to the trailhead at 11:30am and signed in. The trail was in good condition, dry, and never very steep. At 1.45mi there is a flat concrete platform that was once the foundation of a police radio station. At roughly 1.65mi are what's left of an old horse barn. It's been torn down and there is caution tape roping off the area.

Just shy of the summit you will have to go downhill a bit. It seems counterintuitive, but the tower is just around the corner. I made it to the tower in 52 minutes. My distance to the top was 2.05miles. There is a meh view from the summit, but if you climb even just halfway up the tower like I did, you will get a very rewarding view of the surrounding high peaks.

The trip back down was a bit faster. I was back to the car in 43 minutes.

The total up and down took 1hr35min and was 4.04 miles.
