Ascent Trip ReportSolo trip although ran into a pair of (crazy) trail runners who made great time up without any water. Trail is well maintained and blazed with teal marks. Numerous side trails and old logging roads are encountered but at each of these there is a post showing the direction of the yellow mountain trail. After reading B. Reese's trail report makes more sense that some of these are remnants of the old trail. Agree that the 2.4 mile to Yellow Mountain sign is inaccurate. I tried to follow my GPS along several of the side trails/roads to see where they went and although I didn't get far with the exception of Goat Knob never saw fencing/no trespass signs or purple paint. Several very small streams are crossed after descending shortoff mountain. View from the top impressive and fire tower seems sturdy. On return trip bushwacked to Goat Knob (see related trail report for details).
