Ascent Trip Report

Nice and sunny all the way up the Abol Slide until we got to the Hunt Trail intersection, where the fog awaited us. We weren't too optimistic about having any views today when we reached Baxter Peak, but after a short break we noticed the fog starting to break up over the South Peak. By the time we got there, we were pumped to see clear skies over the Knife Edge. We then headed over to Pamola and back, and then down to Katahdin Stream Campground on the Hunt Trail under sunny skies. This was easily the most scenic hike I've ever done. After the hike we took off for New Hampshire and Mt. Washington. We lucked out big-time with the weather this weekend, hitting a lull between Tropical Storm Bonnie and the remains of Hurricane Charlie.
