Ascent Trip Report

Road up to TH was nasty in a truck. Jeeps and ATV rule the highway here. This was about as nasty bumpy ride my stock 4 by 4 Nissan Frontier would want to try. After completing Antero as a 3k summit hike, we hiked all the way over to the connecting saddle hoping to beat the building clouds but it took too long and as we started up nasty black clouds drove us back. We contoured a bit going out to the saddle and had to climb-re-climb several false saddles. On the way back we took the road, which drops lower on the slope and requires regain.

We got some rain, and graupel abandoning our attempt of the summit and later lightning so the smart move was to come back. Since we got Antero no point in getting electrocuted on Cronin. Next time a 4 wheeler or jeep up to 13,000 feet would be perfect to collect this centennial peak. There was parking at both 12k and 13k saddles
