Ascent Trip Report

Well, this was the culmination of 10 days worth of bagging 11 County high points (7 in California and 4 in Nevada), so a definite highlight and significant highpoint. Started at 8:30am with a temperature of 55 degrees. Due to recent thunderstorms and associated rains, the trail was hard to follow, so just followed the topographic map up towards the peak by going cross-country. A wild and wonderful trek. On the summit at 11:30am. Located the 2 witness benchmarks and the primary benchmark, with the aid of another hiker who came up from the PCT. No register located, so placed a new log book in a baggy in the wind break at the uppermost shelter/cairn. Lingered long enjoying the fine view and accomplishment, plus the cumulus clouds were building and it was time to leave at 12:30pm. Returned to car at 2pm with a temperature of 72 degrees. Such an amazing place - thank you!
