Ascent Trip Report

This was day 4 of a five day backpack to climb peaks located in and around Taboose Pass and Upper Basin. From our camp located at Taboose Pass at about 10250' in elevation, Keith Christensen and I headed southeast to the lake located at about 3500 meters, then made a right turn and climbed up the peak's northeast slope to the summit, arriving just as it started to rain. The route up to the peak is class 2 and involves a lot of talus that transitions to bigger rocks towards the top. Afterwards, Keith headed over to Goodale Mountain while I returned to camp. Unfortunately for Keith, he was forced to turn around about 100' below the top of the summit block because of thunder and lightning. However, Keith day hiked the peak the next morning while I stayed in camp, then we both backpacked out to the truck. Please see my 07-20-2018 Vennacher Needle and 07-21-2018 Twin Peaks trip reports for additional trip stats and details.
