Ascent Trip Report

It was one of the hottest glacier climb I have ever done. We started hiking from the TH around 8:45 and had to take many breaks because it was so hot out. We did not want to rush to camp just to bake in the sun. Arrived to lower camp (6400 ish) around 6pm. Nice little stream running through the camp area, so need to melt snow for water. We did have a problem with a Marmot that wanted to get into one of our tents. He kepted coming undernearth the vestubule. In the moring two people's hiking pole handles were chewed up by the marmot. We took all our food that we were not taking on the climb and buried it under 2 feet of snow far enough away from the camp. On our return we were happy to find our food was safe.

Summit Day: We woke up at 1230am and started climbing at 1:15am. Arrived at the glacier edge just before sunrise. It was so warm we actually felt a warm breeze flowing down from the glacier. We did not rope up nor wore our crampons. There was a few crevasses but no where near our climbing route. We stayed close to the rock ridge. The last bit to the summit was super soft snow. Arrived on the summit at 7:30am. Great views on top with some great people. Hung out up there for about an hour. Four of us then went down and climbed up Disappointment Peak. Headed back to camp aroudn 9am. Made several stops for water breaks and also spent quite some time soaking our feet in a nice stream and taking a short nap. Arrived back to camp around 1 ish. Most of everyone took a very long nap. I could not because it was so HOT out. We all had a wonderful potluck dinner of chicken burritos and a few glasses of wine. Quite the treat after a long day.

Headed back to the Th around 6:45am. Made it back to the cars just over 5 hours. Great trip.
