Ascent Trip Reportsome people talk about being able to drive up in a car, but my Subaru could not and should not ever be forced to take that road. Also the road is difficult to find, so here's some advice. As you're heading north on Virginia 80, and you cross into Buckhannon County, who go around the curve and then begin a descent you're looking for the road right before Firestone Road. It's a left, and is paved, for a bit. I took the car about a half a mile before I parked it in the wide spot. Also know that there is a spring with a pipe coming out, so I took my chances on not filtering the water about a hundred yards above where I parked my car. I ended up hiking the mountain, and I'm glad I did as the road is fairly washed-out in Boulder in several locations. I'm sure some high-clearance vehicle could take it but I wouldn't chance it.
