Ascent Trip Report

Arrived at the trailhead at 6:35am due to the forecasted heat. Started the hike at 6:45am with a temperature of 55 degrees. Well maintained trail the entire way. The first 3 miles is essentially a gentle approach with the final 2 miles having most of the total elevation gain. The waterfall was flowing and the meadows were bursting with wildflowers. On the summit at 10am. A wooden plaque marked the highest rock and a register contained an almost new log book. Located a witness benchmark just to the south. Even with some haze to the west from a fire in Yosemite, the views of Lake Tahoe and Reno were awesome. Saw a marmot and chipmunks. Returned to car with a temperature of 77 degrees. My first Nevada County highpoint!
