Ascent Trip Report

Departed 4:30 am, got to Gunsight Pass at first real light, then took shortcut up to plain that leads towards Anderson Pass. As we reached plain enjoyed the sunrise. Stowed poles and began scramble up the huge mass of rocks. I became quite exhausted, as the altitude was getting to me, lots of large rocks shifting underfoot as well. A couple of trail runners who had actually started down at the parking lot beat us to the top. Kirk got to top slightly before 9 am, Lucy a bit after that, and I didn't arrive until 9:30. Could see some rain coming, so we started down. As I was descending, about 300 feet down, I momentarily lost my focus, a rock moved on me, and I fell down and feel quite fortunate not to have broken or concussed anything, escaping with a bruised shoulder, some scrapes, and a jammed index finger. Somehow I managed to land head downwards on my back, so my backpack cushioned the fall. Shortly afterward it rained/sleeted lightly so we continued carefully on the wet rock. Real rain/thunder didn't start until 3 pm, but by that time we were back in camp, so jumped in tents.
