Ascent Trip ReportDrove from tri-cities to wells after work Friday and crashed at the super 8 for $50. Got up at 430am to head for wheeler. Misplaced my debit card and ended up not actually leaving wells until around 6am. Needless to say got a late start hiking and wasn't off the mountain when the lightning started. A decent sized thunderstorm rolled up the west slopes and caught about 10 people up on the summit still. I ran down the ridge until I hit the treeline the walked the rest of the way out under rainy skies. As a basin and range enthusiast this has been near the top of my list for a long time. Great Basin Park is truly a very awesome place. |
