Note that the location of this point is only approximate. The Antarctic Circle is shifting by 15 meters every year, and topographic maps of Antarctica are not very accurate in large parts of the continent. Research indicates that this general area, in a small icecap on the Antarctic Peninsula, is the high point of the Antarctic Circle, but there is a very slight possibility that a spot on the margins of East Antarctica is higher.
