The sensationally located Tegernseer Hütte with Buchstein's spectacular summit block looming right above it is, without doubt, the ultimate picture-postcard view of the entire Mangfallgebirge range. The standard ascent route to the highest point makes good use of the obvious gully that rises from behind the hut roof (right of centre). Look closely - or zoom in - and you should be able to identify a confident scrambler about halfway through the most difficult stretch (2017-09-22). Photo by Habakuk Tibatong.

It has been said that if you fall on the final scrambly ascent to Buchstein's summit, you'll end up plastered on Tegernseehütte's roof. The good news is: no, it's not gonna happen. As this picture proves, you're much more likely to break your neck on the clearly visible piece of trail running between hut and summit block. So fear not ... (2017-09-22). Photo by Habakuk Tibatong.
