This summit is the highest point in the Coxcomb Mountains. However, the USGS 1:24,000 topographic quad maps are in error and are missing contour lines. The map shows Spectre to have an elevation between 1300 and 1310 meters, but field surveys clearly show this point is higher than the nearby Aqua Benchmark at 1346.5 meters. It's elevation is about twenty meters higher than Aqua, according to the trip report link above. |
