List Description

This list is often called the "Bass version" of the Seven Summits, after Dick Bass, the first to complete this list. When calculating continent high points, this list excludes all islands and only allows peaks on actual continental landmasses. The only way this list differs from the "Morrow version" of the Seven Summits is in the highpoint for Australia, which is the only continent where offshore islands have higher peaks than the main landmass.

Even though Mount Kosciuszko is a laughably easy climb by world mountaineering standards, this list has an unassailable purity to it and remains a worthwhile objective, even though the Morrow version of this list seems to have more favor among today's adventure travelers.
