US County High Point Links

Terry Wheeler has self-identified as interested in climbing to the high points of counties in the United States.

I like hiking, although it's only recently become a little more of a preoccupation (or maybe an obsession). My most recent round of interest (since 2007) started out focused on New England 4000 footers and although there are a lot of great hikes in that list, I've branched out into higher peaks farther afield, and less-crowded smaller peaks in the northeast.

I like being above tree line but I also like bushwhacking. I like finishing long day hikes in the dark, descending on trails not recommended for descent and taking the hard way up over the easy way up.

I don't mind hiking in rain or snow or black flies but I don't like hiking in crowds. I definitely don't like paved asphalt trails to summits. I do like finishing at a trailhead not too far from a cold beer.
