Ascent Trip Report

#87 on the Hundred Highest. The route was easy to follow. Just walk up FR 304A past the sandhill and turn up the old road where there is a small cairn. Follow it up into the old clearcut, where a route has been illegally cut through the small trees. At the end, the herd path continues up into the open forest, where most of the bushwhack has been trashed by jerks with surveyors tape. The herd path does start to fade out at upper elevations, so there is still a slight bit of difficulty to this one. Once you get to the sub peak, the herd path reappears and leads all the way up to the summit. The view from the opening at the summit is excellent. Looking at the slide on North Twin is pretty cool. The view of the Northern Presidentials and Willey Range is good, and you can see a lot of the Twin Mountain area.
