Ascent of Hunter Mountain on 2008-05-24| Others in Party: | son Zach(10 yrs. old) | | Date: | Saturday, May 24, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Hunter Mountain | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 4040 ft / 1231 m |
Ascent Trip ReportMade slow time on the ascent with Zach looking for nice rocks on the trail. It was cold and windy on the summit, but I couldnt believe how much worse it was on the firetower. I was afraid Zach would get blown off, so we didnt stay up there long. Have now done all the routes up Hunter, and Becker Hollow is by far the best, I think. We had nice views of the Blackhead Range and Kaaterkill High Peak. After the hike, we drove to the Hunter Mt. ski area and took the chairlift up to the Colonel's Chair which was pretty cool. Zach had a blast.
