Ascent Trip Report

Drove up from Sacramento via I-5 and hwy. 130 from the east. Uh - yeah. 40 miles of never ending twisting, turning road. Poor Carmela got too sick to even take the Lick Observatory tour - just sat in the car and tried to recover while I ran (well, walked slowly) up to the lookout tower. I was about 10 minutes going up, 10 minutes fooling around up there taking pictures, etc, and another 10 minutes coming down. My first highpoint of the year!

Oh, we went back down on the west side, going really slow around the curves until finally getting to the freeway where is was just cruise control back to Sac. 18 miles on the west side and a hundred miles on the freeway sure beat the approach route!
