Ascent Trip Report

As mentioned elsewhere, be sure to obtain permits for everyone in your party before this trip.

We attempted (more or less to follow James Barlow's route- minus the bonus peak). The road in was much better than anticipated, we parked close to where he did. As James mentioned, one could get by without 4WD if one stopped before entering the wash.

We found this peak much more challenging than he did, with very poor terrain (steep, loose, and with unstable rocks that pretended to be stable, as well as annoying boulders at the lower, less steep sections). That said, this route did have the benefit of considerable shade for much of our ascent. We initially headed too far south, resulting in our ascent being about a quarter mile longer than our descent route.
