Ascent Trip ReportAfter failing from east ridge and not seeing a suitable route from south from Wiley Ridge, I tried to climb the long west ridge from Canyon Lake. Made it to within 3/4 mile of the summit at 4000'. The ridge becomes very narrow and exposed but keeps going for a while until a gendarme blocks passage. I tried going around it on the left via a narrow ledge, but it was going to require an extremely exposed move on loose snow with a drop of 1000' to Canyon Creek. I tried going right but it also became quite exposed and the rock was covered in very wet slippery moss with nothing to hold on to. A fall would have been impossible to stop and would promptly send you over cliffs and deliver you to the valley floor 1200' below. With a rope and belay it would have been possible to climb over the rock but I had no idea what lay beyond.
