Ascent Trip ReportThe 5th COHP of our 8 county single-day blitz. By this time of day it was hot. We were stopped by a huge pile of tumbleweeds before ever entering the draw below the highpoint, so parked and walked from there. We decided to go straight for the highpoint instead of staying on the road around the hill. This decision was not the smartest we've ever made as our socks filled with cheat grass. The upside was when Duane almost stepped into an animal hole, narrowly missing putting his boot right down on a badger hunkered down in the opening of its den. We stayed on the road for the return hike.
