Ascent Trip Report

Joined a friend for a trip to Ecuador to climb some peaks. Was a little nervous about planning to ascend Chimborazo after only 5 days acclimatization coming from home at sea level and rightfully so.

Summited Pichincha on day one, Iliniza Norte on day two, then slept at 13000 with some hikes up to 16400 during the day but this was not enough.

Started from Whymper hut at 11pm and climbed 5 hours to just over 19000 feet before the altitude got the better of me. Headache, nausea and fatigue, but turned back when I started to have balance issues and feeling mentally groggy with 3-4 hours to go. Very steep climb as well. First failed summit, guess it had to happen sometime
