Ascent Trip ReportThis past Saturday three of us hiked Mt Garfield. It had to be the easiest ten-mile hike I have ever done. The Garfield Trail has a gradual accent with few hard parts. The only steep parts come on the Garfield Ridge Trail and that is a short section. We could not have picked a clearer day to be on the big orange cat mountain. We had clear views in all directions and I got my best look at the Pemi so far. We relaxed and had some lunch at the summit. We had a surprise when some gliders flew by our summit. Did anyone else see these on Saturday? The first one we saw came particularly close to the summit and scared the crap out of us. We hiked back down afterwards. We encountered several dogs on this trail, seems to be a popular one for that. I love seeing the happy dogs doing the hikes. We did the traditional stop for food and beers at the Woodstock Inn on the way home. Just a fantastic day to be hiking!
