Ascent Trip Report

Planning to hike Doublehead and Black, Middle for the 52WAV list and seeing overcast skies on the way up to Jackson, I decided to hit Black Mountain first. After following a gravel path behind a house, the trail follows a wooded ski trail for the entire way up to the cabin. The ski trail is fairly wide, has decent footing, and is moderately steep. The view from the cabin is minimal, looking toward Mt. Washington. Beyond there, the trail becomes a footpath and continues climbing to a junction, where there is a spur to the summit. The summit has very grown-in views toward Wildcat and Washington. On the way down, I took the loop around the cabin. This peak is definitely the worst of the 52WAV list and should be removed. It is a waste of time if you're not interested in the list.
