Ascent Trip ReportI told ya'll I'd be back!!
After being skunked off the attempt last year by 1st snow of season... I swore I'd be back 'cuz this is 'part of the plan' (Raiier!).
Weather was fabulous... not a cloud in the sky for 3 days!
1st day climb to UBSL was a great day... was rock'n the trail, felling great.
2nd day - not so much.. This was my 1st time I've ever made an 'Alpine' start and, I don't know if it was lack of sleep, cafine, sufficient breakfast or what.. but I thought I was done inside an hour on the trail... but I keep slugging on.
Pretty sure the key to my making the summit was the go long lunch break just below the 500 ft scramble up the notch.
I may be back here someday w/ kids... try that longer Whitney trail.. but for now... on to Rainier (with other trainign hikes / climbs along the way... )
