Ascent Trip Report

Quality peak and little traffic for a holiday weekend. Started at Lake Como after one night in the tent. If I had to guess less than 3000' of vertical. Accomplished the traverse to Ellingwood Point as well. Missed the Little Bear TH on the headlamp ascent from the lake and storms came in with hail after Ellingwood preventing a second attempt at Little Bear. The traverse between Blanca and Ellingwood is easily navigable staying just below the ridge line until just before the false summit. then a quick scramble over good rock and on the summit. Tried descending the standard route off Ellingwood to save some time for LB but to no avail. It was very hard to pick out after taking the traverse so it ended up being a route find through loose rock and scree back to the Blanca route. A night at the lake is a great staging area for a go at all three. If you start early from the lake you could easily be back at camp by noon. Planning on next year going back to get the hat trick traverse.
