Ascent Trip Report

Did the full Necklace Valley Loop and high route up and over Iron Cap Mtn. Iron Cap Mtn's western ridge is mostly a class 3 scramble, with some possible class 4 moves. I would only recommend experienced scramblers on this route. Trail from Big Heart Lake to Chetwood lake is pretty easy to follow. From Chetwood lake to Iron Caps ridge is pretty straight forward, just climb up the talus. The route down Iron cap heading towards Tank Lakes is mostly class 2, with some possible class 3. Follow Iron caps north ridge to the NE shoulder, there you should find some carins that will help you down and around and over to the saddle between Iron Cap Mtn and the Tank Lakes plateau. Once on the saddle, path pretty easy to follow up to Tank lakes.
