Ascent Trip Report

Parked the car at 24N09C to get a 1k gain. Walked up the roads from there.

Still a large snowfield on the north side of Peak 8319; only 8200msl.

Open summit probably has decent views, but I could barely see 10 miles through the smoke from distant wildfires.

Saw a lot of open meadows on Turner Ridge to the NW, and topo showed mostly open country down to the road where I parked. So I decided to take a shortcut down. The meadows, mostly low sagebrush, weren't as easy to walk as I hoped. The few forested sections were mostly open, but you don't necessarily get a direct path because of fallen trees. Probably would be more difficult picking your way going up. Only recommended if you really need to save 10 minutes coming down.
