Ascent Trip Report

Drove up the road in the afternoon. It was a tough drive. Several sections are very steep and a little rocky. My little RAV4 struggled on the steep sections because it doesn't actually have enough power to climb very well. Whoever came up with the idea to market certain vehicles as "limited" editions was genius. It's like labeling a new type of wonderbread as having 300% more calcium, when it only has 6% of the DV for calcium. Brilliant.

Anyway, the road isn't great. It takes a while to climb the 2000 some feet to the summit. Even legitimate off-roading vehicles, I'd imagine, will be challenged by some of the slopes on this road. The views were pretty fantastic, but there was still a lot of haze. I wish I could have seen the mountains and the lava fields better. That was sad.
