Ascent Trip Report

Long Pond Trail up and back. Very well maintained trail, easy to follow. Last 0.5 mile is a little technical and steep, but not crazy. Made a little more intimidating at times as the trail was very wet and muddy. The fire tower is tall and does not have great protection from the wind (which was blowing on our climb). The lack of side rails and a fear of heights took me out of my comfort zone, but climbed it all the same. Had picked this hike due to the prospect of 360 degree views from the fire tower, however on this day it was extremely humid and we were socked in by thick cloud. Still a great hike in a beautiful corner of the world.
