Ascent Trip Report

Departed trail head at 5:00 am. Was thankful for the early start as the hike to Lake Carolyn is primarily through a burn area with little shade. I left the trail at about 7100' elevation and began the ridge traverse towards Cashmere. A couple of coyotes did not appreciate the fact that I was there, and let me have it for the next 15 minutes or so, barking and howling. Oh well, you can't please everybody. Scramble was less complicated than I thought it would be. Summit at 1020, no summit register to be found. Views of Stewart and surrounding peaks were obscured by the smoke from the B.C. fires, after short break I headed down. It was a hot and dusty hike back to the car, temperature estimated in the 80's. Back to the car at 3:00 pm. Not looking forward to the traffic mess getting home.
