Ascent Trip Report

The loose pumice/scree slog up the SE ridge sucked but we found a cool cave around 8k. Josh helped kick steps across steep snow on the Terrible traverse and we set up snow anchors for protection taking lots of time. The bowling alley was surprisingly solid and Josh led that, top-roping us from a belay station above and to the right for some solid class 4 with thin holds verging on class 5.0. This was a single pitch and it was all easy class 2/3 after that. We found some rope and rappelled the one pitch. From the North Middle col we dashed up Middle then descended the very pleasant Hayden Glacier (which we should have taken on the way up in my opinion). A tough summit with awesome views of the Sisters area. Conditions were about perfect for us, maybe it would have been better if the snow on the TT was softer like in late June... While I think it was a cool climb, there was real danger in the loose rock and occasional exposure. Wear helmets and travel carefully.
