Ascent Trip ReportThis hike was doomed from the beginning. We took longer than we should have setting up camp at Lafayette place, and so didn't start hiking until after noon. It rained the entire day. We were all soaked immediately, and it didn't let up at all while we were hiking. We did get some fantastic views of the fog rolling over the ridge, but the wind was blowing cold, so we didn't linger much. Just before the hut, several people in the group said they weren't feeling well, as they hadn't eaten breakfast. I headed back to camp with 2 of the girls, and the rest of the group headed on to the hut. They didn't go past the hut as the exposure was very poor conditions. We got back to camp and made a fire to try to dry out and warm up. I ended up burning my shoes when the wind shifted and blew the fire into them.
