Ascent Trip Report

Camped above Ridge Lake. Went up the East Ridge all the way. Above the notch I climbed up to the obvious left-sloping ledge, very briefly up it, then right up the almost-equally obvious way to the top. It looks easy but actually contains two or three moves which require care.

From the top I chose to downclimb instead of messing with the rope (not super-impressed with the anchor either, but I'm sure it's fine). Care is definitely needed but it's not the worst thing I've done. If one chose to rappel, my guess is that a 30m rope would be fine to get you down to easier class 3/4 terrain (but not to the notch, so use knots). There were another one or two tricky downclimbing spots further down the ridge but nothing too bad. I was however, at various spots, happy to have rock shoes (especially the last bit above the notch).

I brought harness, slings, and 60m of rap line, but it all went unused (although wearing my harness might have added confidence). Just rock shoes. Route and trail are, for all intents and purposes, snow free.
