Ascent Trip ReportThe ascent from Snake Creek is very pleasant, following a well-maintained trail that follows a gurgling stream and goes by old log buildings, culminating in a walk along Johnson Lake. From there, the ascent up the wall of the cirque is quick (though the very narrow trail has eroded its critical edge and your footing needs minding on the descent)to a saddle with wonderful views of Baker, Wheeler, and Jeff Davis. The final push up the talus of Pyramid is stable enough as talus goes. The views from the summit are great. While I've not done the approach from the Baker bowl, I can't imagine a nicer way to summit Pyramid. The dirt road is very well maintained by the NPS, and there are a number of nice campsites on the drive in, with tables and pit toilets. There are also a couple of other trails now developed off the Snake Creek Road.
