Ascent Trip Report

I followed Dennis Poulin's report for this one. The dirt road to the trailhead was rough and rocky. I stopped at a turn at 5650 ft. at a nasty large boulder. I thought I would scrape bottom going over this so parked and prepared to hike. While getting ready a Ford pickup went over the boulder and made it look easy, but I was about ready to start and decided that the distance to the trailhead was short and not worth trying to drive. The trail is good to Gray Rock Lake. I followed a trail to the upper lake that faded out by the lake. I went around the eastern side, but this was messy with a snow bank extending to the water. Going down I went around the western side which is better. Up high there was a lot of snow on the north side. I wasn't sure I could get through it, but found a rock outcrop that was mostly bare and this was the key. Without snow there are many ways up. Nice views from the top. 6/17 RLC
