Ascent Trip Report

The conditions for scrambling up Dragontail were ideal today. Aasgard Pass has melted out nicely and I only had to cross a couple of snowfields on my way up.

At the top of the pass you can see the route up to a notch on the East Ridge. Previous parties had left a boot track on the east facing snowfield, but the steps were melted out. I switched from hiking shoes to climbing boots to kick some new steps. At the top of the notch, the rest of the scramble to the summit is snow-free.

When I was on the summit I could see the route that people use to cross over the notch below Pandora's Box from the Colchuck col. Judging by the boot prints in the snow, it appears there may be three different routes. All of them look steep and exposed with snow.

On the way down I saw a few backpackers and some goats entertaining each other.
