Ascent Trip Report

A short hiking route is from near Cherry Spring southeast of the summit. From Golconda go north on Eden Valley Road about 20 miles and turn left on a fair dirt road. The first part of the road is not shown on the topo map. UTM at the turn is: 466870E, 4560030N, NAD27, Zone 11. This was eroded some with ruts and four-wheel drive is advised. Follow the road for 1.3 miles and turn right. Go north for about 0.2 miles and turn left. Follow this until you reach a flat area before a hill going up to the spring. Overall distance should be about 2.1 miles. The road is messy by the spring so it is best to park here. Hike up to the spring and follow a cow path up on the ridge. The route is easy with some sagebrush. Other members of the group stayed in the canyon and there was a good cow path there too. This route took about one hour and 10 minutes up. 6/17 RLC
