Ascent Trip Report

Several spellings but Tazekka is on the Park signs and Tazeka on the highest road sign. 8km dirt road leads to the summit, used to maintain the comms towers, best with high clearance although with care and perseverance our rented Ford Fiesta made it most of the way: we parked just before the last saddle and enjoyed walking the last wooded part of the road, 1 hour round trip. See Martin Richardson's directions (we just followed the OpenStreetMap app, which has the summit road).

The summit has a large rock (N34.09067° W4.18299°) at the hp and a tall comms tower, one of five, with the tower keeper's house immediately below. There were two men on a platform but they were probably unaware of our presence; there are no obstacles other than a very old long-dead fence to step over.

We wandered back down the road through pleasant shady forest (conifers up here, cork oak further down), coaxed the Fiesta back to the surfaced road, stopped at a lovely shady cork oak picnic site for lunch then headed north for Tidirhine hoping to climb it the following day. We had flown into Rabat the previous evening, and this peak mentioned by Martin Richardson seemed an appropriate target for a travel day. No red tape, no admission fees.
