Ascent Trip Report

This was the first of three mountains for us in the Fulton Chain Trifecta. Although we previously hiked Bald Mountain / Rondaxe Fire Tower for the Fire Tower Challenge, that hike does not count towards the Trifecta. The FCT is brand new and was started last month (March 2017).

I hiked with Dan and Sammy. Since it was Easter Sunday, the parking lot only had a handful of cars in it despite the lovely warm, sunny weather. It was also well before tourist season, so that combined with the holiday left not much open along the way and through Old Forge.

The hike was rather uneventful. Just a nice, short hike with great views from the fire tower. We had the tower to ourselves and Sammy even came up into the cab; his first time up in a fire tower. I've seen other folks bring their dogs up, so I figured it was okay being that no one else was coming up with us.
