Ascent Trip Report

I followed Bob Bolton's excellent trip report, after checking the hang-gliding site he referenced, and parked next to the microwave towers. No one was around except a couple who had climbed up from the cemetery on the flatland below. The road in is asphalt but broken in a couple places so be careful not to bottom out. There were a few sheep and many cows, making it easy to step into the divots and follow cow trails when zig-zagging up the steep grassy slope (I wouldn't want to do this in the mud after it rained though). From the line straight up to the top, it's easier to bear left a bit at first to catch the easier slope going from left to right, then continue going up and to the right to the extent you can avoid the many patches of Blackberries and other brush. The least slope near the top goes up from the saddle to the south of the peak, which you get to by continuing up and around to the right. I saw hawks, along with many other birds. Why is it there always seems to be more wildlife when hiking on private property?
